In Monte Santa Maria Tiberina the whole simplicity of the nature
Come to discover the beauty of a
landscape out of official circuits
Certainly one of the most suggestive
suburbs in the high Tiber Valley, Monte Santa Maria Tiberina unites to
an immaculate natural landscape, the integrity of its medieval origin in a
complex of enormous charm. The village is set on a hill dominant the valley of
the river Aggia, already inhabited in Etruscan period. In medieval epoch
it reached an elevated degree of autonomy and independence. The historical
centre introduces very suggestive foreshortening, buildings in stone, alleys
and very picturesque stairways.
In the ancient Parish risen around
the year thousand in the main square of the suburb can be admired an octagonal
baptismal source all made in stone, the rests of two sarcophagus and the chapel
of the family Bourbon del Monte, which since the XI century has tied its
name to the city.
Beside the church rises the ancient abode
of the Bourbons, Palazzo Boncompagni Ludovisi, and the fifteenth-century
building centre of the marquises endowed with medieval tower and portal of the
1500.
Remains then to visit the Castello of
Lippiano, very well preserved and the Abbazia Benedettina of Marzana.
The amenity and the luxuriant environment
make Monte Santa Maria Tiberina an enormous park naturally ploughed by runs and
characteristic itineraries never banal.
Besides are notable the typical products
of the place, that offers, according to the seasons, chestnuts, mushrooms and
hypocrites, which constitute the essential elements of the best dishes of the
territory's gastronomy.
Monte S. Maria Tiberina is ideal place for
brief or long periods of vacation in a healthy and natural, peaceful and
serene, pure and uncontaminated environment.
