Attigliano: a castle of guard on the Tiber
The town of Attigliano and its Rocca, a fortitude on the Tiber's shores
Attigliano was initially an ancient Etruscan centre, then a Roman one. It starts
to take the actual physiognomy only beginning from the X century, when came on
the shores of the Tiber river the
count Offredo, to who is owed the
construction of the mighty strengthened castle. It was born so the suburb
around the imposing towers of which is still gifted and that remain to testify
its strategic importance.
Subsequently the castle was turned into a Baronial Building, adapting during the
XVI century the six towers and the perimetric boundaries of the ancient
fortitude.
It's very beautiful also the Piazza della Rocca, where a
characteristic bell tower with clock can be admired.
