The two revolutions in Assisi: the spirituality of St. Francis and the art of Giotto

The art of spirit and the spirit of art are woven at Assisi for celebrating the wedding among the most elevated the man can conceive. Two grandiose revolutionary messages have pushed the human mind up to raise it toward peaks never previously reached. The first revolution have been around the time of the birth of St. Francis, or better, to the second birth of Francis, when with action of supreme rebellion deprive himself of every good and set himself to the service of the pours, making of himself the poorest man among the pours, the humblest among the humble ones, the last among the lasts. The second revolution bursts to Assisi when a promising painter of scarce experience surprises the whole world manifesting his genius, overturning the current figurative canons and affirming the proper ones. In Assisi's yard to decorate the Basilica Superiore is called a boy coming from the shop of Cimabue, a guy named Giotto. This one, consecrated by the notes of the Vasari as example of formal perfection, was perhaps the only one able to universally confer the suitable shiny to the enterprises of who is recognized as example of spiritual perfection. On different fields they have fought the same battle. If Francis praised the creatures as sign of the glory and the power of the Lord, Giotto withdrew them in their shine, concretely showing to the lazy minds what they don't even can't imagine.
