From a small centre an ambitious artistic project: Campo del Sole

Tuoro is a small centre in the immediate proximity of the lake Trasimeno, proud to have given the native to his most illustrious citizen, Anton Maria Garbi, painter of notable merit. He was born in 1718 and among his most important works there is the '' Madonna with Child '', preserved in the National Gallery of Umbria and the painting '' St. Michael Arcangelo and Saint Lucy '' which is in the Church of Santa Lucia in Vernazzano Alto.

But the artistic vein of Tuoro is again resplendent thanks to the ambitious project culminating in the grandiose Campo del Sole , a real sculptural open-air museum, which sets on the beach of Tuoro-Punta Navaccia, enriches the whole urban community. These are numerous sculptures and works of various kind composed between 1985 and 1989 by artists of different nationalities, different generations and addresses, contained within a spiral made of columns that conduct to a central table surmounted by a solar symbol. The project is work of Pietro Cascella in collaboration with Mauro Berrettini and Cordelia von den Steinen.

The Church of Santa Maria Maddalena is the most ancient, built at the end of the 1300, after the downfall of the Sant'Agata church, of which some stones remains as its memory. Of notable interest a fresco apsidal of the futurist painter from Perugia Gerardo Dottori (1884-1977), depicting the "Maddalena" who dries the feet to the Christ, of 1949.

Palazzo del Capra was built in Renaissance epoch on the place where, according to the tradition, the Roman consul Caio Flaminio Nepote was buried. It preserves a fresco attributed to the Perugino.

Pieve Confini is an inhabited centre of the Commune of Tuoro, it's located on the northern bank of the lake Trasimeno. In 1165 was erected its church that is the best example of Romanesque architecture of the Trasimeno.

Than the excursion to Isola Maggiore is a must, it's a destination of great tourist flow, the second for extension of the Trasimeno. St. Francis of Assisi approached there in 1211 in hermitage on the occasion of the Lent when he remained 42 days on the island praying and fasting.
