The Perugino in Trevi: The Chapel of the Crib
The monumental
Church of the Madonna
delle lacrime was built in the centuries XV-XVI, subsequently to a
miraculous event, the lachtymtion of a votive image set on the external wall of
an agricultural house. Another miraculous event marks today the artistic
history of the church, it's the presence of a pictorial complex of the
Perugino,
who paints the second chapel of the right wall in 1521. It's the
Chapel of
the Crib, painted with subjects that represent the
adoration of the
Magis, theme already treated by the painter in the
oratory of the Whites of
Cittā della Pieve.
