Last minute The '' Lance '' of Arnaldo Pomodoro, '' Light '' of Terni 

It opens at the end of Corso del Popolo the space devoted to the monumental "Lance of Light", the obelisk realised in 1995 by the famous contemporary sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro. The work delivers to the world the city of Terni as depository of a monument inserted in a global metropolitan circuit that understands, among the others, the cities of New York, Moscow, Dublin, Los Angeles, Tokyo.

The Lance of Light of Pomodoro, wants to be the maximum celebration of the technological results reached by the civilisation, but at the same time it shows the anxious, dark and incomprehensible aspects of it. The Lance cross in all of its length the history of the humanity and its progress, representing the evolution of it beginning from the base in raw iron, up to reach, later over thirty meters development, the shine of the light. The linearity of this run however is interrupted by cuts, tears and wounds, illegible and mysterious signs, that illustrate the whole complexity of a walk that doesn't appear yet concluded, sublimed by a bundle of light that is projected upward.

This monument represents better than anybody else the new challenge of Terni, toward a post-industrial future and technological advance, a tutelary monument to beside of which are in risen the Scientific Technological Park, the Special Materials Superior institute, the Media-Library and the Video-centre.
