The town San Venanzo
The itinerary that we recommend to the
visitor who reached
San Venanzo includes the centre of the
City-hall,
Palazzo Faina which is a ladylike residence built in the 1800 above the
rests of a castle of the XIII century. Besides the town offices inside the
building there's the
Volcanologic Museum. After stopping on the prestigious
civil building, two churches deserve the attention. The recent
Church of San
Venanzo Martire has been built in last century and introduces a façade that
proposes Gothic lines. In the inside there are a
Crucifix realised in
ceramics and coming from
Orvieto, and two paintings of the Seven hundred, the
"
Madonna of the Rosary" and a "
San Venanzo"
of
Lorenzo Faina.
The
Church of the Madonna Liberatrice is much more ancient and was built in the XIV century, owing its name to the
painting of the "
Madonna Liberatrice" that is found in its
inside, realised in the XV century and wanted by the population in sign of
recognition to have been saved by epidemics, famines and wars.
