This event needs less than any other to be introduced. For more than thirty years is it the landmark for the best Italian and international musicians.
It is the destination for tourists from all over the world who see themselves cast in an atmosphere of notes, music and sound for about two weeks.
The jazz music invades every corner, breaks down every boundary, and overflows from every back street. In every pub and in every tavern one can hear resound the charming sounds of a contrabass’ strings accompanied by a drum set and a hoarse voice.
Hundreds of concerts all over the town of Perugia offer a musical variety rarely seen and heard elsewhere. Many of the events cost an entrance fee, but as many are free and enjoyable by everybody in order to allow to all people to taste the best jazz has to offer.

January-April: Aperitifs in Music - A series of concerts organized by the Accademia Musicale Umbra in collaboration with the Accademia Teatro del Pavone that conclude with tasty aperitifs.
March: Venerelettrica – The International Female Rock Festival - International female rock festival. This unique event is organized every year – of course by a woman – and takes place in March; its aim is to show a music world, which is often forgotten, and to listen to the caustic rock music.
March: Open Workshops - The initiative aims to point out the various artistic expressions through which the local artisan expresses himself. The visitor is called to come into the ancient rooms of the workshops from where came the weaves, laces and embroidery. 
May: International Congress of American Studies - It is organized by the Centro Studi Americanistici "Circolo Amerindiano" and consists of many sessions and conferences, which bring into focus every year different topics.
May: Archeo Festival - Every year the Archeo Festival of Perugia offers many itineraries of high historical and archeological interest. Concerts, spectacles and events that take place in the context of the festival accompany tours, meetings and workshops.
July: Umbria Dance - Every year takes place at Perugia (in the gyms of the secondary school Liceo Classico Mariotti) the Umbria Dance, an important dance event that is composed of two weeks of training with dance masters of international importance.
August: Festival of the Torta al Testo - Festival dedicated to an ancient product typical for Perugia, the Torta al testo, simple dough made of water and flour which was baked letting it rest under the cinders.
September: Umbrian Music Festival - Music event, which aims to rediscover the spiritual values through music, presenting every year a program that includes many singers and musicians of international level.
September: Perugia Science Festival - In the space of ten days a series of initiatives connected with science and its fascination follow one another, with experiments, laboratories, thematic film reviews, theatre performances, meetings and workshops.
October: Eurochocolate - In the autumnal month of October, a blast of wind with chocolate aroma warms the climate covering the streets and squares of Perugia with a layer of high spirits tasting of cocoa. The event Eurochocolate realizes the dreams of the gourmands and the enthusiasts of this extraordinary product that drives away depressions and invites to happiness.
For this occasion the stalls of the producers offer the public their best creations, the artists create for every edition very tasty stimulus and solutions in order to appreciate the deliciousness of chocolate also aesthetically. Films are shown, exhibitions and conferences are opened, workshops and competitions are held, and all have one common denominator, chocolate. Every year new initiatives involve and entertain the tourists. Sculptures of chocolate are carried out, hair styled with chocolate, and the fantasy seems not to have any limits when it is exposed to the “food of the gods”.
The event increases every year in intensity and the participation of the public, an overflowing stream invades the streets of Perugia with the only purpose to secure a bar or simple a splinter of chocolate.
October-December: Cartoombria - Film review entirely dedicated to the world of cartoons. Hundreds of cartoons from all over the world fill the screens of all cinemas of Perugia in order to offer a cross-section of a field, which does not address only children. The projections are accompanied by exhibitions and events, which point out the proceeding and the work behind the creation of the cartoons.
November: Batik Film Festival - International review of the independent film where films are projected which normally do not go through the official deliveries. It is a highly appreciated event on international level where participate besides the many spectators also actors, directors, producers, scriptwriters and all kinds of profession connected with the cinema.
In this occasion are organized round tables, workshops, courses and competitions, where one can meet the real protagonists of this world of dreams and celluloid.
November: Fiera dei Morti - The biggest Umbrian fair takes place every year contemporarily with the festivities dedicated to the death. In the large space of Pian di Massiano hundreds of stalls animate that place where one can buy practically everything, household articles, clothing, animals, furniture and knick-knacks, food and delicacies, an enormous sample collection of everything that has a price.
November: Open Oil-mills - When the new oil is pressed in Umbria takes place the event Open oil-mills, entirely dedicated to the oil, one of the best products of the region and known all over the world for its quality and genuineness, so that it has gained the European acknowledgement DOP (Denominazione di Origine Protetta) in 1997.
Like the similar event “Open Wineries'', which celebrates the wine, Open oil-mills celebrates the Umbrian ''green gold'' with the same aim, that is to bring the consumers nearer to the territories and the ways of production of one of the masterpieces of the Italian alimentary tradition.
The Umbrian oil-mills, which participate at this event, are more than thirty and in all of them one can go, see, and discover the production techniques, and taste the oils.
Among the many initiatives that accompany the event are also the exhibition markets of local gastronomic products, the “Laboratories of taste'' at Montefalco and Trevi with interesting classes where one can learn the best combination of alimentary products, and the tasty initiative of the “Restaurants of the oil'', where participate more than seventy restaurants preparing topic menus.     It is an event, which involves whole Umbria, because the oil-producing communes are spread all over the territory.
Who is interested in going deeper into the subject can go to the two Umbrian museums dedicated to the oil, as there is the "Museo dell’Olivo e dell’Olio" at Torgiano and the "Museo della Civiltà dell’Ulivo" at Trevi.
November: Umbria Libri - Manifestazione legata all’editoria e al libro, in tette le sue forme e le sue espressioni. Si creano per l’occasione laboratori di scrittura creativa, corsi, letture pubbliche, ed ogni genere di situazione possa favorire il contatto fra i presenti ed il libro.
