Montegabbione and outskirts
Placed in the highest point in the suburb
there's the Castello, currently turned to barracks, which still
integrally manifesting its charm, has suffered numerous interventions, both of
amplification and of remaking.
The whole district of Montegabbione is crowned from entire strengthened suburbs, real monuments to the Middle Ages. Castel di Fiori is a delicious village, entirely absorbed in a thick
wood, a marvellous frame of an important rampart to defend a border zone.
Streets, houses and boundaries are perfectly preserved, as the tower, recently
restructured in the full respect of its fourteenth-century origin.
Montegiove rises on the rests of an ancient installation, Etruscan firstly and Roman then,
as numerous findings attest. The whole suburb is literally overhung from the
imposing castle, that from its high position dominates the whole underlying
zone. To its inside it entertains, besides furniture and furnishings of epoch,
the chapel of the Beata Angela, born in Montegiove in 1357.
