Oenological and gastronomic itineraries in the territory of lake Trasimeno
To the gourmets and to who doesn't neglect the pleasures of the table we advise to stop in the
many typical restaurants, which have refined during the time their kitchens and
the traditional dishes that the local products allow of prepare in great
abundance. The specialities are at great level. The whole Umbria is famous for
the production of delicious oil, and the lake doesn't make exception, with the
zone of Denomination of Protected Origin (DOP) of the Colli del
Trasimeno. Elevated quality levels are reached also for the wine with the DOC Colli del Trasimeno and its numerous typologies. Particular
importance and notable merit are the dishes prepared with " fagiolina of Trasimeno ", an autochthonous variation of bean
tenaciously preserved by the extinction thanks to the agriculturists of the
lake, so today it’s fortunately an abundant nourishing and typical legume. The
lovers of the fish of lake have to taste the"queen of the lake", or the carp queen in roast. Another
typical dish of the Trasimeno is the tegamaccio, which is a
dish similar to a seasoned soup with various types of fish of lake, eel and
tomato. All served hot in a cracked pot. Good appetite.
