The town Giano dell'Umbria
Placed in a splendid panoramic position,
around two kilometres of distance away from
Giano dell'Umbria, there's
the marvellous
Abbazia of San Felice, an ancient monastic complex risen
beginning from the X century. The church is an admirable example of Romanesque
Umbrian architecture, with evident Lombard influences. It rises on the place in
which
San Felice, bishop of
Massa Martana, founded in 306 a small
oratory, inside which today rest his bare.
In the city centre they deserve a visit is
the
Palazzo Pubblico, the actual centre of the
Town-hall, which
hosts a precious harvest of Roman finds, is the
Parish Church of San Michele,
built in the XIII century and recently restored, that underlines clear traces
of its Romanesque imprint.
