th 1472 is a historical
date for the city of
Foligno, but also for the history of the culture
and the Italian literature. In that day the goldsmith
Emiliano Orfini,
in his own places, with typographer
Giovanni Numeister's collaboration,
student of
Gutemberg, come by
Magonza, gave the first copy of the
Divine Comedy to the presses. Umbria was one of the first regions to
understand the importance of the publishing revolution, through the leader
Trevi,
to which it followed a few months later Foligno. Thanks also to the presence of
the
paper mills of Pale, the first circulation was really abundant,
calculated in around 300 samples. The event is remembered every year with
solemn celebrations and the public reading of some songs of Dante's work.
