Campello sul Clitunno and outskirts
Near the Sources of Clitunno, few
kilometres far from Via Flaminia and in the most elevated part of Campello,
rises the Castello, which is a circular construction abandoned on a hill
covered of olive-trees. The fourteenth-century building is found in perfect
state of maintenance, in an enviable position from which you can enjoy an
incomparable beautiful panorama.
In the proximity of the castle there's
another complex of admirable beauty, the Barnabiti Convent, built
beginning from the XIII century and inhabited during the centuries by different
orders. It previously hosted the Benedictine nuns, then the Franciscan monks,
and after a long period of abandonment, it was acquired by the Barnabiti
Missionary Institute. Besides the architectural structure, inside there's a
splendid '' Madonna '' to admire, a fresco of the painter Giovanni
Spagna.
