Until 10 January 2010, at the Palace of Perugia Baldeschi the Course, will present the exhibition: 1909 collections and protection. John Pierpont Morgan, Alexandre Imbert and the medieval ceramics orvietana. The exhibition deals with the dispersal of the artistic heritage of our country, the 800 at the beginning of the end of '900. This phenomenon has become widespread because of the many collectors from abroad who seized works in our country and created large collections in England, France, the United States. Wealthy characters as the magnate American John Pierpont Morgan, specialized in the Italian collectins and the French antiquary Alexandre Imbert.
The exhibition describes as a lot of personalities of the time, is hocked for protecting and to safeguard the artistic wealths of our country. Indeed in 1909, was established law 364 of 20 June, the first legislation i which attempted to obstruct the export of works of art. The exhibition features works of art, vintage photographs, original documents, and above all presents for the first time shown together in Umbria, a group of 50 medieval ceramics of Orvieto.
The exhbition furnishes important elements of analysis to understand the world of the Italian art as artistic patrimony to defend and to preserve in our country.
