Palio dei Terzieri
From 15 to the 23 August Città della Pieve recalls the ancient Palio dei Terzieri.
This event takes the name from the ancient subdivision of the city in three parts according to the social class of affiliation: the Terziere Castello or Class of the riders (Aristocracy), the Terziere Borgo Dentro (Middle class), the Terziere Casalino or Class of the Pedestrians (Farmers).
Every year is represented the hunting of the bull and the purpose of the participants it is to succeed in inserting the arrows launched by his/her own arcs on the outlines of bulls set on the mobile platforms.
The winner in prize is awarded the possibility to preserve the palio for one year.
The atmosphere is involving and enthusiastically thanks to the opening of the taverns and the artisan shops, to the theatrical and musical shows and the parade of the historical procession composed from almost 800 showing up among: dames, riders, canters and mangiafuoco that cross the center of the town and they entertain with their shows the visitors.
At the end it unthreads the allegorical wagon, prepared according to the historical tradition
