The town Allerona
It's dated around the XII century the construction of
the
Church of Santa Maria Assunta, magnificent complex realised on a
project of the architect
Paolo Zampi of
Orvieto. Inside there are
preserved notable frescos of
Arturo Viligiardi around the end of the XIX
century, characterised by a vivacious chromaticism. In the place where the
ancient
Castello di Lerona rose, almost at the opposite of the
Santa
Maria Assunta Church, there's the
Palazzo Visconteo,
realised in the XIV century, today of private ownership. Realised in 1926, few
years after the beginning of the fascism power, the
Palazzo Ex Dopolavoro,
faithfully respects the canons of the esthetical and architectural taste of
that period. Currently it entertains the
Pugnaloni Permanent
Exhibition and other documents concerning the popular folklore with a
particular care for the demonstrations in honour of
Sant'Isidoro.
There are many other things to see in Allerona, as the
delicious
Church of Madonna dell'acqua, a sober and elegant octagonal
form, the Etruscan and Romans ruins located near what remains of the
Sant'Ansano Church or the river structures on the
river Paglia, always of
Roman epoch, in
Molino-Monte Regole.
